Explorations of the Aboriginal Remains of Tennessee

By Joseph Jones M.D.
Jones’ work is mainly on the ancient inhabitants of Tennessee and the Explorations of the aboriginal remains of Tennessee or Antiquities in Tennessee. It covers common burial practices, archaeological digs, items found, and other information about native antiquities. One chapter is devoted to Old Stone Fort, Manchester, Tennessee, which happens to be a place of special interest to Dr. Jones. The Old Stone Fort remained a mystery until the University of Tennessee conducted archaeological excavations in 1966. Throughout the 19th and early 20th century, various theories tried to identify the builders.
